On February 28th, students from Asahikawa University, the Hokkaido AFS Association (AFS日本協会), and the Higashikawa Japanese Language School received various awards for speeches given in the 30th Asahikawa UNESCO Japanese Language Speech Contest for overseas students.

Thirteen students representing ten different nations participated in the contest.  Abbreviated versions of their speeches were presented on video for all attendees. Various representatives of the Asahikawa UNESCO Group and Asahikawa University also gave comments congratulating and encouraging the contestants.

The Asahikawa University International Cooperation Committee would like to thank the members of Asahikawa UNESCO, Hokkaido AFS, the Higashikawa Japanese School, and Asahikawa University faculty and staff, without whose time and effort the contest would not have been possible.  Most of all, we would like to thank all of the contestants for their hard work and to congratulate them on their well-presented, moving speeches.

Receiving the Asahikawa Mayor’s Award, for her speech entitled “Finding the Key to Peace through the Experience of Studying Abroad“, Dergelsaikhan Enkhuzin (Mongolia, Asahikawa University, 3rd year, Faculty of Economics)

Receiving the Asahikawa Board of Education Superintendent’s Prize, for his speech entitled “Koreans of Affection and Japanese of Harmony“, Si-Fan Shin (Korea, Asahikawa University, 3rd year of Business Economics)

Receiving the NHK Asahikawa Broadcasting Station Director’s Prize, for her speech entitled “Asahikawa: My Journey of Growth“,  Ka Le Thao(Vietnam, Asahikawa University, Department of Economics, 2nd year)

Receiving the Asahikawa UNESCO Association Encouragement Award, for her speech entitled “My Life Plan”, Wang Shu Dan (China, first-year student, Asahikawa University, Department of Economics)

2月28日、旭川大学、北海道AFS協会、東川日本語学校の学生が、第30回旭川ユネスコ日本語弁論大会で留学生によるスピーチを行い、各種賞を受賞しました。

このコンテストには、10カ国から13名の学生が参加しました。スピーチの内容は動画で紹介され、参加者全員が視聴しました。旭川ユネスコグループと旭川大学からも、出場者に祝辞と激励の言葉が贈られました。

旭川大学国際交流委員会は、旭川ユネスコ、北海道AFS、東川日本語学校、旭川大学教職員の皆様のご協力に感謝いたします。そして何よりも、出場者の努力に感謝し、巧みで感動的なスピーチを披露したことを祝福したいと思います。
